From Protest To Power: Program

We will propose a path to building the multiracial people-power we need to govern.

We will examine the relationships between the crises of racism and xenophobia, economic inequality, and climate change and environmental degradation, and we will propose a path to building the multiracial people-power we need to govern, rather than constantly fighting destructive policies of the right wing and of corporate Democrats.

We will Hold Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx accountable to her campaign commitments.

We will hold Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx accountable to her campaign commitments to use the power of her office to address systemic racism in the legal system that results in the mass incarceration of poor African Americans in the Cook County Jail. Leaders of The People’s Lobby and Reclaim Chicago will ask Foxx for very specific commitments that will advance our goal to end mass incarceration. There will not be time for members of the public to ask her questions.

We will get commitments from legislators to support our People and Planet First agenda.

We will get commitments from state legislators to support the People and Planet First Budget for Illinois and fight for corresponding legislation, and we will ask federal legislators to support good jobs in the US and internationally by supporting a nationwide public sector jobs program and demanding that the renegotiated text of NAFTA include strong wage standards for workers in all participating countries.

Leaders will make public commitments to run for office.

We’ll also lift up our plan to build a pipeline of candidates capable of challenging corporate Democrats from the left and filling the increasing number of empty seats in Springfield. Dozens of people from around the region will make public commitments to run for office in 2020 and beyond as movement candidates.
