Cleopatra Watson for Alderman, 9th Ward

Cleopatra Watson is running for Alderman in Chicago’s 9th Ward. Cleopatra founded United Pullman to organize residents of North Pullman to win access to jobs, services and other development that has come recently to the whiter South Pullman. Drafted by people in the neighborhood to run for alderman, Cleopatra is a natural organizer. She is born and raised in Chicago. She knows first hand the importance of fully funded neighborhood schools, having experienced the positive benefits of a stable, neighborhood education and having worked as a college and career counselor in Chicago Public Schools. She holds a Masters of Social Work degree, and as CPS staff Cleopatra worked in numerous schools that put data before the wellbeing of kids. She witnessed firsthand the complete breakdown of neighborhood schools as anchors in Black communities. She supports an elected school board, passage of the Lasalle Street Tax in Springfield to fund equitable investments in the 9th Ward and communities across Chicago.
